Tell me about this 2007 Singlecut in Satin finish

Hey I’m on the market for a Singlecut Trem and found this one in Blue Matteo. I got excited because it’s probably my favourite finish, but I haven’t had the chance to see many PRS first hand and these pics make the top look a bit uninspiring.

Do you think it’s a bad pic or a bad top?

I think it’s nice for a non-10 top. My 2003 SC Trem is my #1. Awesome playing and sounding guitar.

Great looking top. Lighting changes everything.

While that *could* be just a pic taken under poor lighting conditions, be aware that PRS blue finishes have a noted tendency to fade over time under UV light.

Preventing Blue Fading

So I just recently read all the threads about blue finishes fading, and as of now, my two blue PRSi live in their cases. (I figure Les was right about 53/10’s, he’s probably right about this). Here’s my question though: It’s likely that sometime in the new year I’ll get to play some daytime...

As much as the fade subject gets beat on, appears that particular example did quite well. At this point I wouldn’t worry.

If it hasn’t faded by now, I would bet on it being stable as long as you are moderately careful about excessive exposure.

AFAIK, yes. Should be zebras.

Yes the pickups have been changed to 85/15s. Looks are indeed important to me as I hang it on the wall and only play when the kids allow me.

Can anyone confirm what neck shape these had please? Seller is unsure and says it feels like a pattern regular or thin, but my understanding is they should have the old wide fat. I’m a bit worried because the regular pattern is as chunky as I’m comfortable with personally.

Pattern necks weren’t around in 2007 so it isn’t regular pattern, or any pattern.

Not sure if they all were the same size, but my 2003 is the wide fat neck profile.

Most O Those Guitars Had Wide Fat Necks Although A Wide Thin Did Show Up From Time To Time on Singlecuts. On That Guitar You Are Considering I Would Say 99.9999% It Is Wide Fat.

Not True! You have to make sure UV exposure is kept to a minimum. LED lighting where it's hung. I own a few fade prone guitar and have had them hung out for years and not faded. However I have one that did fade before I figured all this out.

I have a northern lights, two blue fades and a dark aquamarine on the wall. Two are private stocks, the guitars that have only been around LED lighting and some gigging haven't faded at all.

I think that guitar will look great in person BTW OP. You can always upgrade the look getting some PRS covered pickups and lampshades if you prefer a modern PRS look. I did that to one guitar I have and the pickups alone really freshened it up.

Throw Some \m/ Pickups In It And You Are Off To The Races. They Work Great On Singlecut Trems And Are Far More Versatile Than They Get Credit For.
