Tell me about a 2000 McCarty

Nothing wrong with black and red ;)

Well, colours are a disqualifier for me. If I do not like it, the guitar is disqualified or will leave in due time. It starts to bother and the guitar starts to collect dust. Or so it appears to be.

Otoh: if I do not dislike it, it will not bug and therefore play any role in my decision making regarding that guitar.

It is about "making the cut"

Aside from the gold logo lettering and truss rod cover, is there anything else that was different with ce24 20th anniversary models? Safe to assume that it still had a wide thin neck and HFS/VB pickups?

I’d take a 2000 McCarty over pretty much anything offered today.

I had a 2003 core Macarty and it was great. I Agree I think they are superior to later guitars. It had that great almost feedback/bloom sound even when playing without an amp and good resonance. I did put locking tuners on it and have the coil tap only on the neck pickup. I could go from crunch with the bridge pickup to a nice rhythm sound from the middle position which would cleanup nicely to a nice cleanish neck pickup if coil split. Worked for me into a pushed clean channel. I molded the Bernie in the same way. Also a way nicer guitar that any SE or S2.

Thank you. My friend and guitarist our band lent me his gold top Macarty for a couple of weeks to see if I liked it before i went to buy one. it was from early 2000s and as he said it has few faults, sounds and playes great. He had it as a main gigging guitar for years it always cut through the mix, stayed in tune and was utterly reliable . If I could get the money for another as I had to sell mine when we need some cash quick, I would buy again from that period.
