The buzz around the 594 is audible. I've just never been a huge fan of 2-piece bridges. That's not to say that the 594 bridge isn't good. What i want to know is what does the 594 do that the ted 245 doesn't do?

Forget the coil taps, I know they're cool, but I never use that stuff. I just pick up and play. I want a shorter scale classic rock machine. What should I do, get both?

To which of the Teds are you referring? I'll assume the double cut.

The PRS two-piece bridge feels great, plus super easy string changes.
Speaking of easy string changes, locking tuners are where it's at. Paul claims the tweaked Phase III sound like old Klusons, so why not?
If you don't use the coil splits, you're missing out on a ton of great tones.
Speaking of a ton of great tones, the four-knob layout can't be beat for variety.

I'm interested in both single and double-cut. And I can live with either 2 or 4 knobs. Or 2 AND 4 knobs....

+1 on the 4 knob
I also prefer the vintage pattern neck carve on the 594.

I never cared for coil taps either. That is until I got the GOM 594. Now I use them constantly.

All right, well I'm tired of this sh!t. I just ordered this. I mean, how can I keep looking at these and not pull the f&cking trigger?

I really want to try one of these. If it's anywhere near as nice as my SC245, it would be a fantastic double-cut for me.

I, too, am concerned about the 2-piece bridge. I love the wrap-around nonadjustable one-piece on my 245.

I recall what I heard at Experience when the 594 came onstage. It was tender and ecstatic. Soulful. Full bodied. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this thing.

Ha! Good man!!

Yes, all the things said here, love the Assymetric "Pattern Vintage" neck carve, more so than Wide Fat. Which is saying a lot, WF was my previous favorite!

Love the locking tuners.

Love the 2 volume, 2 tone, wouldn't be able to go back now.

Love the 5815 LT's (but also love the third party pickups I have tried as well!).

Love the look of the two piece bridge. I think the tone with the new materials is also part of the "secret sauce".

The body is thicker, I dig that! Makes for good tone (but also heavier guitars!).

I love the 3 way toggle position. Have since the first time I used it. It never really bothered me visually. Well, maybe for the first few times I saw pics, but I got over that quickly. I can't even imagine it down by the controls now, I wouldn't be able to find it. ;)

I absolutely love the scale!! Short and slinky, killer tone, but just a hair longer and somehow really improves the spacing of the frets about the 15th fret or so, which was a challenge with the 245 scale for me. Somehow at only 1/32" longer, it feels MUCH better up there! And just overall, it feels great, and I think a key component of the tone.

For me, the one advantage the Ted's have/had is the Nitro Finish. I like the V12 finish, but I like the PRS Nitro finish better. Most of the PRS Run and the Willcutt's runs were Nitro, I miss that. (I think the last Willcutt's run was V12...) Nothing a little extra cash for a Private Stock can't fix! ;)

Also, at first I missed the Santana Headstock. But I am getting used to the regular PRS headstock now.

Ted's are GREAT!! 594's - PERFECT!! ;)

Nice looking 594 there, ViperDoc!

Funnily enough, my first elec guitar was a Flying V knock off with a TOM-style bridge (which I then replaced with an aftermarket Floyd-like whammy bridge). My next fixed bridge guitar was a Les Paul with a TOM bridge.

I always assumed that two-piece TOM-style bridges were the acme of bridges, and I thought wrap-around bridges were inexpensive compromises. My buddy that I jammed with years back had a (single-cut) Les Paul Junior (except he got it in the early 70s - we never did figure that out!) with the single pup and wrap-around tail piece, so to me it was a sign of cost cutting.

Of course, now I like both styles of stoptails. Wrap around adjustable and wrap-around fixed intonation are just fine, as well as TOM-style. I like em all!

Yeah, I like them both as well! I have ordered a few Private Stock 594's, and I was thinking of doing one with the one piece bridge as a link back to the awesome Ted McCarty DC 245. I chickened out though and went for the two piece, though.

Still on my wish list for the future! :)

For all of these exact reasons, I opted for the 594 over the Ted...for now. All of the current improvements and "discovery" of the 594 recipe was just too good to pass up. I'm not nimble in the upper registers, so the added length is logically appealing. Can't wait to push it through the ODS II.

PRS takes all the credit for creating such wonderful guitars, but dammit if you all don't deserve a shout out for enabling the acquisition of such worthy tone machines. You guys are great. Thanks!
