I have one of the first Sans Amps pedals and still use it. I've recorded with it....in the mix with some EQ etc....a great tone. people would ask...what amp is that?
the thing i like about this newer pedal is...no scrolling menus...or a manual to memorize about each function and what the push of a button does. I'm so tired of those pedals...100's of presets...banks..patches....and of pedal boards with a confusing array of foot switches along with the expense of them all.
the only thing i wish these Tech 21's had is a way to use a chorus effect separate from the delays without having to turn a knob. these can be used to enhance the tone of an amp so you dont even need any more distortion pedals or to record direct out with...your amp blows out? plug it into the mains. a lot of gigs you could probably use it with no amp.
this is one of the best tips i've learned about my sound.....set the amp/pedals to the gain/distortion you like to use or think you need. then back down the gain and play it like that for a while. you won't miss it. youre playing will begin to compensate and improve. you can wean yourself off gain and distortion...fingers will get stronger. and this: set your gain so that when the guitar is up all the way, and you stop playing, you dont have a lot of noise coming out of your amp...you dont have to click off the pedal...the guitar doesnt just squeal.
