Ok, so it's really not a question...on sept 19, 20, and 21 Taylor Swift plays Nashville. My daughter (12) would love for me to take her, and, truth be told, I'd love to take her. We saw the last tour and she had a blast. And, because she did, I did.

That, of course, is one of the traditional weekends for EXP PRS. I haven't missed one of those.

Pre-sale for tickets is this weekend. Perhaps the powers that be at PRS would consider my plight as they schedule...because it should be all about me ;) or my daughter.

haha, oh man, that is a predicament. As much as I love PRS and would love to go to an EXP, if I had a kid, or was in the position where my father would actually bring me to a show, I would pick that one for the cool memory :)

If they are the same weekend, and I manage to snag tickets, it won't be much of a choice.

My backup plan? My mom still lives in Annapolis, and I've tried to visit her more since my dad passed away. (That is another great thing about EXP, gets me home to visit my parents an extra time each year). My mom was very happy when I came on mother's day weekend last year. In 2013 Taylor Swift is in DC on mother's day weekend. Thinking stubhub and a road trip would be a fun memory if Nashville doesn't work out.

Not even close. Your daughter won't be 12 forever. Spend time with her while she still wants to be around you.

The Experience will be there next year.

I'd take her to Experience PRS and promise to take her to the next TS show.
Problem solved.
Great memories for daughter and dad.
Great time for all.

I thought of that, too - and then I thought of how much 12-year-old girls just love hanging around old guys who like what their dad likes... :(

We'll know tomorrow...I have a presale code (yup, signed up for the TS e-mail update list to get pre-sale info) and we're aiming for Friday night tickets. I'll go with any of the three day, but Friday would be best.

She's asked about coming to that...she is my concert buddy, I'm looking forward to the day when either she, or my son, want to do something like that.

Take her to the 9/19 concert on Thursday night, then both of you fly to Stevensville Friday morning and hit the Experience on the 20th and 21st. Would that work?

That thought had entered my mind, but that's probably more than either of us can take!

Here's hoping that:
i. I'm able to get some tickets when they go on sale
ii. She still likes Taylor Swift a year from now! (though I'm certain I know people who'd want the tix)
iii. Exp PRS is a different weekend

As many of you have noted, if the events collide, it's not a decision at all.

I was SUCH A HUGE TS hater (pitch please) & my niece adores her. Every time in Nashville it was always "can we go look for Taylor?". The last time my family was here, we grabbed lunch at "Longhorn". She's still begging me to help her find Taylor's condo & I told her, you don't find the stars like that here. You see them at the grocery store, gas station, local clubs...or even places like here (Longhorn).....well I know you've guessed the next part......Taylor, mom & brother walk in & sit down 15 feet from us. I see this stuff all the time, as do most Nashvillians. My family from NC has not. My niece (Joelle) LOST HER MIND!!!!!! It was Jesus Christ just walked in. I asked them to PLEASE let the folks eat in peace and that lasted 4.5 minutes.
Joelle's mom jumped 1st & the next thing you know my brother's entire family is at Taylor's table. Snapping pics, getting autographs, etc. Taylor even gave Joelle a bracelet she was wearing. Joellle was in heaven & Taylor & her family were very patient. Joelle rode home knowing every one of her friends was going to be SO jealous of her. She still, one year later, smiles like a Cheshire cat when someone brings that up.
So.....thankfully Kate is not of that age yet, but if Mickey Mouse were in town during the EXP I would have to put on the ears. As much as the EXP is MY Disneyland, Kate's gota come 1st. I would bring my iPod & listen to some Grissom or Joe Bonamassa during the entire show, but I would be watching my girl have a blast the entire time.

And I will note here, like many of our college students point out...first world problems!

I took Elise to see TS when she did her tornado benefit/open rehearsal before the speak now tour. The crowd was 10,000 pre-teen kids having the time of their life watching TS and 5,000 parents having the time of their life watching their kids! The show was really good, a lot of dancers/actors/acrobats, really well done.

On the way out the parking garage decided to have only one exit open...we were on the top level...going nowhere. So we went over to Broadway and got ice cream, played in the fountains at the symphony hall, pretty much enjoyed each other's company until the police came and told the garage to open more exits. The after show was almost as fun as the show itself.

A couple of weeks ago I took her to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to see some of the items from the speak now tour. (The museum is really good, by the way). We parked in the same garage, went to get ice cream at the same place...sort of a "speak now, part 2."

We'll be at Bridgestone in a couple of weeks for TobyMac, I imagine ice cream will follow!

There is only one 12. You gotta take her to see TS.

Of course, there is only one 13, one 14, one 15..

The way I see it, her calendar is your calendar for the next 5 or more years.

I'm also betting that you wouldn't have it any other way.

Go, Have a blast. Hug the stuffings out of her while she's still 'daddy's little girl.'
