Hi! Recently bought a 2008 CU24 10-top with PhaseII tuners. I´ve found out that they might be a bit worn cause some is real Heavy to turn, while others are as smooth as butter. 2 of them (b and g tuners) have a gap when you turn them som it makes it uncomfortable to tune with them. I has to turn thoose down a note or so and then bring them slowly up again and that feels sloppy when i tune my guitar. So I´ve decided to order replacements for them and now is the questions. I am qurious about getting Phase III tuners to replace my Phase II´s. Is it worth that effort and is it even possible to do without to much work on the tuner-holes in the head? Anyone has experience about the difference between the 2 models, other than PHIII has open gear and 2 holes at the back for the seatening screws? Just about to order so any pointers would be really, really grateful here. :D

Your best bet would be going with new Phase II tuners for a direct drop in replacement.

Phase III will require drilling new holes in your headstock and the subsequent refilling and refinishing of the old holes.

However, if that part doesn't bother you, by all means go with the Phase III's...

Is it the 2 small holes att the back of the neck you referr to? If the PHIII´s just fits in the "Trough Holes" it will not be a problem for me as long as thy will fit through the "head". Thank you for the pointer, man! :D
