Swamp Ash Special has my interest

I really want to want one, but I'm so happy with a couple of cheap Strats I bought last year, I can't justify that kind of outlay. Maybe later if the GAS flares back up and especially if I end up in another covers band. This thing would rule for those wide-ranging 3-4 hour gigs.

I know Bryan Ewald can make a hello kitty guitar sound great BUT the new Swamp Ash special sounds really nice.
The all maple might be even better :)
Agree 100%
All maple for sure.
Yes
All it needs is a push/pull for the Strat-o-Tele mod to get the middle pickup by itself and it's supreme.
As the guy who has been shouting from the rooftops for years now about how great the middle NF sounds, I agree!
I pre-ordered one.
Of course you did! Maple?

I like that the put individual taps on it for each humbucker. I agree that it needs to be modded to give the middle pickup only option. That is a very underrated pickup option. I would use this option much more than both humbuckers together. I play an HSS quite frequently so I am used to having that middle pickup only option. I don't really use two humbuckers together without a separate volume for each pickup.

I think the screw coil is the one that stays active on my SAS when you pull the tone knob up. I wondered why they chose the slug coil on this tap. I was just watching the videos again and using the slug coil on the bridge pickup gives it a touch of the quack of adding the middle pickup to it. I like that.

This piqued my interest, so I'm going to cross-post this in my big wiring thread:

Got a three-pickup PRS like a Special Semi-Hollow, or the new USA Swamp Ash Special? Want to get that glorious Narrowfield by itself? Or maybe you have a Studio and want the outside pickups?

Start here: https://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/8873/strat-teles

The three below all have the same simple goal: In one push/pull position, you'll have the #3 blade position with Neck/Bridge. In the other p/p position, #3 on the blade will be middle pickup only. It doesn't mess with the splits or any of the other blade positions.

This One is a good start. It requires a four-pole super switch. Ignore what's going on with the tone controls in the diagram and leave the stock PRS master tone wiring in place. Swap the blue and pink wires on the push/pull to have Bridge/Neck as your default.

This Second One gets the job done with a typical five-way blade. Ignore the TBX part.

This Third One uses half a super switch.

If I get to feeling feisty, I may work it out for the PRS blade. I think it's a just small hop from the half super switch scheme.

There doesn’t seem to be much activity around this release. I pulled the trigger on a sub-7lbs one last night.

I had a 98(?) a looong time ago. Not sure why I sold it but I guess I could say that about pretty much everything.
