OK so in (the not that unlikely) event of me getting a new PRS down the road I am now pretty much set on making it a Swamp Ash Special.
Of course this is pretty much a question of finding any of those which is not as simple on this side of the Atlantic.

But then, which one to get ?
I am not into the early HB / SC /HB pickups but more into P90s or Narrowfields. Between those 2, which one would you advise me getting knowing I already have a double P90 guitar that I quite like but I may (be able to) sell it if I get the P90 SAS.
Also I am not sure where the NF SAS sits comparing it with my Silver Sky or my Special Semi Hollow. Reviews seem to tell its Fenderish but that doesn't tell me much.

Any opinion welcome. P90 vs NF SAS, which did you or would you choose ?

Thanks

The OG Swamp Ash Special is fantastic (never should have gotten rid of mine), and the NF SAS is killer too. Due to the differences in pickups they will sound different to each other.

One upgrade I did to my old one was putting uncovered 57/08 pickups in place of the McCarty’s.

What P90 Swamp Ash Special is there?

I dunno… I’m still looking for “the right” OG SAS, but in your case I guess the SAS NF would be it. Don’t expect the NF’s to sound too single coil like, they’re mini humbuckers with a new name.

You are right, thanks for pointing that out. No P90 SAS, Custom 22 with 3 pickups / 5 way switch maple neck. I wrongly called them SAS which they are not.

That said I rephrase my question as P90 CU22 3 PU vs NF SAS.

So I’ve had a H/rail/H and H/N/N (swamp ash studio) come through lately. The studio ended up winning out for me because I actually preferred the NF sound. Without having any P90 guitars to directly compare, I find the NF to be full and punchy more so than any true single I’ve personally played. The 2/4 position sounds were also better IMO being more similar to true single quack.

I would love a swamp ash studio at some point.
