I usually don't do covers but one of the great things about Jazz is it's foundation of taking popular tunes and melodies, turn them around, upside down, inside out, thru improvisation and come up with something new and dynamic. For an exercise in Jazz arranging I took the title track from Sade's landmark album and gave it a Jazz guitar/Hammond B3 treatment, drawing on the inspirations of Jimmy Smith & Wes Montgomery.
I really enjoyed working on this tune, well written, simple & complex at the same time.
