Have been using the D'Addario NYXL since their debuts and love 'em. Just wondering if anyone has tried the new Verita strings from DR? Yes I know there are reviews online, but wanted the opinion on these, on a PRS guitar and from a player.

NYXLs on electric, Elixers on acoustic. I'm perfectly happy with these, haven't even looked into switching to anything else.

I'll do anything -- ;) how YOU doin'? -- I have a soft spot for Ernie Ball ever since I read that article about how they went Linux to give the finger to Microsoft; D'Addarios of course; Thomastik-Infeld; and of course Rotosounds.

I bought a guitar string with NYXL's, nice strings but since it's a new guitar I don't have a reference point. Love DR so I might have to try the Veritas.

I've always use the DA XL, never heard of the NY until now. Guess I'll have to try them. I got through a LOT of strings. They look expensive, tho.

I have been using Ernie Ball slinkys since I started playing back in 96. I don't think I can stop using them now. Should I try NYXLs?

Just tried NYXLs (in lieu of regular XLs) in the 594 in my avatar. Very sweet! They have the punch of the XLs with a harmonic zing I don't hear in most strings. Some string sets on the 594 sound stronger in the wound strings than in the unwound. The NYXLs balance this out nicely. I can imagine that this might get to be too much on certain guitars (a bright Tele, for example). But for the 594, they're magnificent! (I'm a big fan of DRs on my acoustics so look forward to trying the Veritas.)

I strung up my SAS with the Veritas today. My first impression- they sound like DR`s but not very different from the tite fits that I normally use. Slightly thicker sound on the lower 3 strings. The gauge is 9-46, and I have 2 gigs in the middle of the week to test them on. Theoretically, they last longer. A plus is that they came with an extra E,B, & G string. The set was $9. I`ll let you know by the weekend..

Are the NYXL any better tone wise over XLs? I tried to listen to some vid comparisons (that was a challenge within itself:confused:) but couldn't tell any difference in tone, ......................
................................Maybe because it was some kid in his dorm room with an Ibanez and his 5W solid state amp with the gain at 10.o_O

.....and are all the NYXLs "balance tension" requiring a new setup?

I tried sets of NYXL on two of my PRS, and while they were a little better than my old standby GHS Boomers, I didn't feel the difference justified the high price. YMMV, of course. I do like good old D'Addario phosphor bronze on my acoustics, though.
