Hi Guys
I own two PRS, a Custom 24 and a SE Custom 24. My issue is with my Custom 24... I get a Sitar effect at the low E when played open, and does not happen when fretted....
Can someone tell me the ideal string height at the first fret for a Custom 24?
Many thanks for your help
Cesar

It should be around 4/64 from bottom of string to top of the fret. What most people prefer for low E is .020-.016".Personally i like .018 if i have file a new nut.

4/64" is equivalent to .0625", which is significantly higher than the .020"–.016" range you describe. How do you account for that?

3/64ths at 12th fret on low E for SE A55e and SE T20e.

Getting older and slightly confused ;)...no of course you’re correct.I don’t have a clue why I wrote that.

String height at first fret: Is this measurement made while pressing down the string between the second and third frets?
