Hello!

I've been trying out a bunch of PRS SEs and am curious to know more about the CE 24 vs. McCarty 594.

I have a Fender Prodigy and 95-96 Mexican Strat, along with a Gibson Studio T and ES-339. I love the Studio but the D-shaped neck is a bit too chunky and the lack of weight relief is real.

So, I was thinking that a McCarty might do the trick (single- or double-cut), and I like the way that it feels, but I also played a CE 24 (and a couple of Cus) and holy smokes did I like the wide fat neck profile. I noticed that they ship with 09s (as opposed to the 10s on the McCartys), so every model I've played feels super fast and squishy compared to my guitars at home.

As mentioned, I already have a couple of strat-style guitars, and have been looking for a more accessible alternative to the Studio. I can't deny that the CE 24 feels pretty awesome to play, but I won't have an accurate comparison without replacing the strings (all of my other electrics have 10s and I'd probably change them out on the CE 24 as well).

Does anyone have any opinions on these guitars, particularly having 10s on both models?

Thanks!

Switch it to 10s if that’s what you prefer. Will still sound great  I didn’t even bring my SAS home before having it set up with 10s.

Keep in mind that the SE CE 24 has a Wide-Thin, not Wide-Fat neck. The 594 SE has a Pattern Vintage neck, which is about as chunky as a current PRS guitar’s neck gets.

Oh gotcha. Thanks for the clarification!
