I know when I played something heavier like 10-52 for a while, I just got used to the feel and after a while I didn't notice the strings felt chunkier.

I use the EB ‘Skinny Top Beefy Bottom’ set (10-54) on all my guitars. They are the most versatile set of strings I have ever come across. I use them from E Standard to Drop B but your miles may vary.
