Hi, I have a chance to buy a PRS Custom 10 Top, but it has an strange serialnumber 2 24xxx (x=following digits) !
Is it from 1995 or 1992 or between or is it fake? Do anyone heared about this?
Thanks,
Björn

1992 serial numbers should be around 13xxx 14xxx mark. Something doesn't look right.
Any pics of the guitar?

Yes, I know - that's the problem. :) I have some pics, but I can't post them yet, because I am new at the forum.
The guitar also has a stamped 10 (I don't know when PRS change to written 10).

Stamped 10 sounds right for 1992.
Could it be a badly written 14xxx instead of 24xxx in the s/n?
Host the pics on a hosting site and then link them here.

No it is a 24xxx. Unfortunatly I also can't post a link in this forum before I got 3 posts.
Make it sense to ask the seller for a pic of the pickup cavities?

Yeah you need to use a site like Imgur, Postimage etc. Upload your image/s to there and use the share to forum code in this box.

When you post your reply the image appears.

If you’re using the image tool above to upload photos, you don’t need to.

Just put the share code in this box and hit “post reply”.

Hope that works for you.

Looks legit, but still strange....
It has the one piece trem and the knobs look period correct as well, but the serial number should't be at the 24xxx
Maybe a good refinish and a mistake in putting the S/N back?
As you suggest a picture of the bridge pickup cavity might help as well....

Yes, I think so, too. But is there any reason for this s/n?
Is it possible to wipe away the s/n or is it under the clear coat?

Ok, I will ask the seller for a picture and will report. Thank you all!

okay ... :D
It looks like PRS serial number identification isn't that reliable after all.

Ok. I got a picture of the bridge pickup cavity: and the no is ....
14471! And the colour should be whale blue!
No rule without exception :)
