Just picked up an SE DGT for a fantastic price. Have a Core. Had an SE before but decided I needed both after all
. BTW, they seem more different from each other than my recollection of the SE I owned prior. The Core's pickups definitely have something different going on. But they're both good instruments in their own regard, and I kind of like that the SE is a similar platform yet provides me with a different voice. Honestly I'm not sure I'd want them to be nearly identical.
Anyway...the pickup springs. I don't remember ever encountering this with other guitars. The pickups on the SE seem really loose in the rings. As I adjust them up or down, there's a lot of "give" in the springs and the pickups tend to easily tilt forward or backwards inside the rings. I know there are springs in there because I can feel them by pushing up and down on the pickup. They just seem like they need to be stiffer and/or longer.
Any good recommendations for dealing with this, i.e., where to get better quality springs? Have any of you encountered this?
