Standard 22 Satin w/Dragon II’s…what’s the consensus ?

I’m in lust with a standard 22 with trem in Vintage Mahogany finish. I know zip about Dragon II pickups. My favorites are the 57/08 in my McCarty. Figuring out how to acquire this without the wife noticing

All hog is a good thing. Not a fan of D2 pups but some do like them a lot. I had a all hog DGT with the original Dragons and they killed in it. Anything like a 59/09 or hotter would sound amazing in it. Good luck.

I’m a fan of the DII’s as well a fan of a fully maho standard.

I love my standard 22 however I have to admit it came with Seymour Duncan’s JB/59 set which really rocks. Mine is from 2001.

Ya know, just yesterday, I was going through a few guitars, and did a full tilt Spring cleaning of my S2 Standard Satin Charcoal. Wonderful all- hog . I had replaced the pickups with SD Pearly Gates. I love this guitar. I am sure yours sounds Royal. S2’s are the business!

These runs in the 2005-2008 era were awesome. They had the SC, CU24 and CU22 satin standards. The super thin nitro was so key. While not a durable finish, every guitar I played was VERY resonant. Regrettably sold my SC.

I was not a fan of the DIIs in my CU22. I swapped them out for 57/08s and it made the guitar sound much better IMHO.

As I acquire more guitars the percentage increases but at a smaller ratio, right? Still, PRS is a larger presence than any other manufacturer in my flock.

I had Dragon IIs in a PS Santana and I thought they sounded really good, somewhat moderate gain but they cleaned up nicely when rolled back. They were covered. Pickups are easy to swap if you want something different.

I always felt like the D II pups sounded better in the standard (all 'hog) guitars. Found them a little too much with the maple top but they seemed to work well with the all mahogany.

Left the dragon ii neck. That sounds glorious. I also took the cover off. Then I swapped the bridge pickup for a Tremonti. Such a monster guitar. The guitar I still grab the most!
