I recently picked up an '88 Studio that needs some love. As I was dismantling it, I noticed it has a "2" stamped in the trem spring cavity. The font and ink match what's on the back of the headstock perfectly. I've never seen anything like this before in a PRS. Anyone else?

Maybe they were testing the stamp before they did the serial number lol. If so, the cavity stamp was a success, the headstock stamp... not so much.

That is something to be unveiled by asking the PRS Customer Service for a guess. Typically the involved persons of the assembly of a PRS guitar leave a tag in the treble pickup cavity.
I'm still waiting for CS to get me something resembling a wiring diagram for the 1st gen Studio, I won't hold my breath waiting for them to explain this. I know the "easter eggs" you speak of, this guitar only has gremlins.

I could take some pics under the backplate of mine for you if it’d be any help?

The little jumpers on the rotary would be a nightmare (for me) though.

I appreciate that, but I wouldn't put you through that torture.

The old stacked wafer rotary is the biggest part of the electrical mess I'm trying to troubleshoot. I have all of the HxH rotary diagrams posted on the forums here, I'll eventually figure it out for HSS I just need to sit down and study the switch and how all the leads pass from level to level. I'm still hopeful that someone in the PTC has some hand-written diagram they can scan and send me. I was honestly more baffled by the stamp in the pic above than the wiring.

Right on. If you change your mind just give me a holler.
