Special knowledge of PRS Mira (old version)

Hi

I bought my first PRS.

I got a great offer that I could not refuse.

I bought a PRS Mira Vintage Mahogni årgang 2009.

I'd like to hear about your experiences with PRS Mira.

How would you describe the sounds???

I'd like to know a lot about materials, components and production of PRS Mira.

Is it a cheap and therefore less PRS guitar???

I hope to hear from many of yours with special knowledge of PRS Mira.

It's only less expensive because it's a simpler guitar - minimal carving, only one wood species on the body, and top-loaded electronics mean that the cost to make them was far less than say a Custom.

They're great guitars. The first PRS guitar that really caught my ear as well as my eye. They have a more 'vintage' sound perhaps compared to the 'modern' tones PRS is known for but they do most things very well.

Hands down, my favorite PRS guitar. PRSh uses a maple top Mira to test all amps that go through the factory. Extremely versatile, super light, awesome fret work and it sounds great. What more could you ask for?

Here is my all Mahogany 2009. I definitely plan on getting at least one more in the future.

Congrats! The original Mira (haven't tried an S2 version) and the McCartys are the most appealing PRSs to me. I certainly don't think it's less of a PRS, it's just as others have said it has a less complex design, and from what I've seen the PRS build quality is there. Anyway, there were/are a few variations, but I believe the standard Mira had an all mahogany body with double cutaway, a 24-fret neck and two humbucking pickups with a coil tap.

Out of curiosity did you find it at Elderly?

According to Shawn@PRS...

The Mira and 245 (US) pickups are basically the same except for the covers used on the 245 pickups and coil tap wire used to the Mira pickups.

I spent time in GC comparing a Mira S2 to a LP Studio Pro. There were things I liked about both...but what blew me away was that this guitar that cost significantly less than the Gibson more than held its own!

I went with a Custom 24 S2 only because it felt better in my hands. I really did like the Mira though. The kind of quirky design appealed to me!

Interestingly, the hangtag on my KL1812 states that it has '245' pickups (but it definitely has a coil tap). The ad copy for those guitars said 'Mira' pickups. Anyway, no real point to that info but there ya go. :-D

Love my Mira. I have 57/08 pups, so it's a little different from the Mira pups. Every time I get to jonesing for an LP doublecut or SG, I play the Mira and put my wallet away. I live how rude and snarly it can be, and it can cut like nobody's business!

I have the korina version. It's six pounds of delight that i keep next to my tv-watching recliner. I like the Mira pickups so much Ii put a set in my HBII.

I am very happy to PRS Mira is a guitar that does not weigh much.

I always thought that the mahogany was a very heavy wood.

I do not know much about wood except I think that old heavy pieces of furniture is often made ​​in mahogany.

Is it a special type of mahogany from a particular place in the world?

My '08 Mira weighs about 6.5lbs. It's the lightest Solidbody guitar I own.
