We need them back! maple/mahog neck options. P-90's or 57/08's pickups. 24.5 scale...

PRS, when can you make that happen?

Please?

Pretty please!

Isn't that basically what a DGT is?
True, but a McTrem with the new McCarty features would be awesome, pattern neck, binding, 58/15 pickups, etc. Make it a short scale and it would be perfection but I know that would never happen.

Not sure I'd love short scale with a trem. Might feel a little sloppy.

Something like this, maybe? McCarty with vibrato? Check. Pattern neck? Check. 58/15 pickups? Check. Two volume controls, as on a DGT? Check. (mandatory for me any more)

24.5-in. scale? Nope, bad idea with a vibrato, as Les said.

The body on this one is single-cut thickness. And fairly significantly chambered.

Oh and hey, Les, I've filmed a demo video. It's currently being edited, which is going to be a tough job because as it sits it's almost 15 minutes long. Whoops! Hope to hit the airwaves with it by Tuesday.

Can't wait to see and hear it, Kingsley! That guitar looks beyond amazing. Just gorgeous in every possible way. I'll bet it sounds absolutely killer.

Well, that's a good thing!

it actually works out more than ok. I think some might shy away from this non traditional combo from a lack of familiarity, but Paul has been building this model for more than 30 years and Howard Leese and Carlos Santana seemed to dig it! I will say that I have a light touch and use light gauge strings, so for me I don't feel a significant loss of tightness if you will switching between 25" and 24.5" instruments as much as those who use a more aggressive right hand technique.

That's a good point. I do tend to prefer a fair bit more resistance from the strings -- I mostly use .011s or more, not so much because I have an especially aggressive right hand but because I play with a pretty wide dynamic range and I like to hear a nice, solid fundamental on the notes. I've also played a LOT of acoustic guitar in my life, so heavier strings are what feels normal to me.

That said, I have an old ES-335 that sounds much better with EB Slinkys (.010s) than with any other brand and gauge of string. I happily adapt to that. Of course it's a two-piece stop/ABR type bridge so there isn't a vibrato unit involved.

Like Kingsley, I play with a fairly light touch, but for several years now .009s have felt like rubber bands, and I need a bit more string tension, too. Most often I play .010s, and on acoustic mostly mediums or bluegrass sets. But .011s aren't a problem on the right guitar.

Even my McCarty Singlecut is set up for more string tension than most folks would expect for a 24.5 scale length.

However, what works, works! So trems and 24.5 it shall be!

Yes indeed. This.

the original McCarty switching was/is perfect for me. i am the minority that doesnt like the dual backward volumes on the DGT.

I don't think it's sloppy. I use 9s on Fender-scale guitars, 9.5s on PRS-scale, and 10s on Gibson-scale guitars. My ME245 is short scale with trem, and it plays great.
