What colors can you do on a spalted maple top? How would a translucent blue or white look? Don't want to obscure the wood.
Post your pictures of your own!

It really seems that it should be natural or some very light tint like amber or something...

Yes 100%.
Natural or a subtle tint work really well.
This is natural:

Notice the subtly in the grain relative to the dominance of the spalt.

I agree with the natural, but the thought of a natural burst is pretty cool.

I don't recall seeing any spalted maple in a finish that wasn't either natural or "amber"-like. So I decided to Google around, picking "blue spalted maple" as my search terms just for a random color. Some interesting finishes out there on non-PRS guitars. But nothing radical on PRSi.

I did find this, which is not much of a color added to it, just a bit of dark burst:

Love this one! Spalted Maple shouldn't be covered up!

Google Dan Spitz...he had 2 interesting Spalted PRS made for him; Camo and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle guitar.

That`s the most amazing spalt I`ve ever seen, and possibly the most amazing figure of any kind I`ve ever seen!

I asked Paul Miles about this a while back. His answer was that spalt will only take a tint, you cant get a stain to properly apply. Seems it boils down to spalt being basically diseased wood and they have to soak it in glue to make it carve-able.

when you google: Knaggs spalted maple you will find some pictures of what Knaggs guitars does with spalted maple.
