I nominate "Goin' Home" by Ten Years After. Either the Stonehenge version or the Woodstock version. Our
band plays it. We don't do the full eight minutes or so, cut it down to about 4. Crowd always love it.
Long before I was born, but it was the first song that my Dad taught me, once he busted my chops a little and decided I had some potential.
And, by the way, my 25th SAS just kicks ass on this.

OK, testosterone frenzy is over :star:.

cheers!

I would wet my pants if I went to the cover band bar up the street from me and one of the bands played "Then Comes Dudley" by the Jesus Lizard.

I was asked once to join a buddy's band for a few gigs when their guitar player had surgery. I agreed on the grounds that they learned and played Led Zeppelin's "Ten Years Gone" at each of the gigs - it went over awesomely with the crowd, and I have never heard another band do it.

Beep, Beep by the Playmates.

"Ten Years Gone", my all time favorite Zep song to play.

How about some Shine on you Crazy Diamond :-)

Id love to get a group together that could play the whole thing with every part... I think one of my buddies in MI still plays Sax.

Lots of bands do 'The Spirit Of Radio' and 'Limelight,' but how many do "Cygnus X-1 Book II: 'Hemispheres'"?

Last band I gigged with did originals, but one night we decided to bust out a cover of "Airbag" by Radiohead, and it went over really well.

I've never heard it covered by anyone else.

Classic-rock cover band that I was in did all the usual suspects: Bad Co., Skynyrd, Clapton, Hendrix, SRV etc for a crowd of similarly middle-aged folks. They liked our stuff a lot, and we were pretty good at it.

Our opener, for while the room was still filling up and people were still getting lubricated, was "Badge," by Cream. Lovely fun song and our bass player executed that tricky descending run (third line in the verse) perfectly. We played it for us, I guess.

We split the bill with another band (they were pros, we were not) and one of them said at our break, "Great old song, and no one ever plays it. You sounded good."

=K

Great song. I'd love to convince my band to learn that song.

Recently a group of guys I have known for a long time did the whole OK Computer record at a one off show, and sold the venue out, 200+ people.

We do "Summertime" by Mungo Jerry, never really heard anyone cover that one before. We are in the process of nailing down "Business Time" by The Flight of the Concords....I don't think anyone does that one, either.

I'm in a Stones tribute so we do a bunch of deep cuts that no other bands I've ever seen play - Ventilator Blues, Sway, Love Is Strong, Loving Cup, to name a few
