Just about every cover of a Beatles song I've heard, except for Aerosmith's terrible rendition of "Come Together".

You guys are confused about the title of this thread. It's "Songs that got even BETTER...". It's not "Famous bands covering famous songs"

Another entry for the late great Michael Hedges - This time covering Madonna:

And here's Imelda May covering "Tainted Love":

Well you can count on The Beatles to create a good foundation, but their songs usually get even BETTER when you apply a level of musicianship that the fab four couldn't attain.

While I enjoyed these covers, the only one I would consider better than the original is Joe Cocker doing A Little Help from My Friends

Yup, that's the definitive version of that song.... and it's not even 'cause I'm a Beatles hater.

See, there's the problem with the thread. "Better" is subjective.

I won't dare say this cover made it "better". However...Van Morrison sounded as if he was the only human that had ever performed it, or at least should have!! Man! Had they not hacked the sh!t outta guitar solos 1&2 (my all time favorite guitar solos) I would have held this one as the best cover in the history of covers.

The definitive version, IMHO. You could also add Statesboro Blues from this album as well...

I had a heated debate a couple of weeks ago. I used to gig this song, one of my favourite to sing. My pops in law didn’t believe me either, when I told him it was a Beatles song.

Suffice to say, The Beatles never released this as a single after Joe Cocker’s rendition!

If you watch the show on Netflix, it has a terrible wannabe version of the Joe Cocker one. I guess for some reason they didn't keep the song rights. But it really ruins the viewing experience. I grew up watching that show and I miss hearing that guitar and Joe belt it out at the beginning of every episode.
