Something Different

That PS Archtop sounds fantastic.

They really do a good job of bridging the gap between a 'semi-hollow electric' and an 'electrified acoustic' archtop. I love that there is no block between the hard-mounted bridge and the back. I wonder how it would sound with a floating bridge pickup mounted to an floating/elevated fretboard and no knobs or switches mounted on the top (so it can really vibrate).

I'd love to give one a spin.

I would, too. Also I’ve never played an Eastman, so that would be fun as well.

I have a friend and an acquaintance who collect archtops, so I’ve played some of theirs - but for me, getting handed an unfamiliar guitar, and maybe I play it for a couple of minutes, gingerly because it’s not mine and it’s something they’ve collected; I’ve never been able to get comfortable and understand what they can really do.

I had a 335 around ten years ago, but that’s different enough from a true archtop that I have to admit I know next to nothing about them, except how they sound on records (though I did see a few of the greats as a kid, jazz or guitar tone didn’t sink in until later).
