Spent about 26 hours at Cambridge Sound Studios in Philadelphia this past weekend. I picked a few pictures to post here (ok....QUITE a few....lol) . We got a lot accomplished. All of the guide tracks. Then we got ALL of the drum tracks pretty close to finalized. All of the Bass parts pretty close to finalized. I got some of the rhythm work done on guitar and at least one is pretty close to where we want it. Then we can lay the leads over it, then vocals and see where we are. Angela is thinking not this weekend but next one may be when we go back in.

I will reserve what the experience was like until we are FINISHED. The learning curve was/is pretty steep, but I am getting the hang of it all. DEFINITELY NOT like playing live, that is for sure. But I wanted to update you all. Sorry it took so long to post. I had uploaded the pictures to Facebook. The time signature runs on on pictures posted there so they would disappear from the board. SOOOOO.....I had to reupload a few of them elsewhere so that they would stay her permanently. Anyway......here they are.

Looks like a great time/experience!! I'd love to hear a breakdown of what guitars you are using per track, since I'm seeing you with a couple different instruments. Do you know what they're tracking you through? Any info on mics/preamps, etc?

I always find the tonal experimentation the most fun in the studio....choosing drum sounds, the proper synth/piano sounds, bass rigs, guitar rigs....ahhh, it's all so exciting!!

Last song I did was an Airline 59 3p for rhythm guitars and the ME-V for the lead. I used a plexi and a Divided by 13 with the Airline, and a Diezel VH4 with the ME-V.

How are you tracking? Straight through takes, with (without) punches? Section by section? Biggest question....you feel better after getting some hours under your belt?

Can't wait to hear the full synopsis!!

I was holding off on the way it went until the process was finished. There were some things that I like...and some that I did not. BUT, the finished result is what I am after so I will see how it all goes for the actual, completed songs. Tattooing is the same way for me....the process and the end results are interconnected, but not he same thing.

I did get to play a lot of different guitars, but they were mainly for the scratch tracks. This weekend was mainly focused on getting the drums down. And we ended up getting all the bass parts in. I played rhythm on a couple of the songs so far. I went in the booth to sort of "prove a point" on one of the songs that I didn't know if I were to play it electrically or acoustically (I have played it out equally both ways). Did 4 takes. Was asked to come inside. Next thing I know, he was editing it and everyone was shaking their heads "yes". So, I guess it will be me on my A40E on that song for me. They said, "I think we can use that"

Next session will be leaning more heavily on guitar work for me and Chris. Then, it is just a matter of getting the vocals finalized. So, once that is done, I will give a better overall view of how things went.
