Soft nitro on DGT

My Nitro finish DGT has some soft spots by the strap knob. It's been like that for months and hasn't hardened? Help!

That being said it looks like Vinyl / plastic against the nitro

Yup from my strap. On bottom button too. Any ideas on how to fix without doing a refinish?

I had the same problem with my '08 and '09 DGTs.
