Are you in or are you out?

What lead me to the question was when I heard about the PRS pulse artist thing a couple years back, I was pretty excited and thought I would apply. I’ve been a PRS only guy, by choice, for a couple decades+. I walked the walk, talked the talk and put my money where my mouth was. I’ve been in gigging bands for forever. Good and talented bands. I dreamed of the endorsement probably since I started playing PRS. Any form of it.

That’s when I really thought about any type of endorsement. Two way street, each helps the other. As an artist/guitar player, social media is the biggest form of promo in society. I’ve been on a couple platforms, my interest in most of it died awhile back. I rarely even check in anymore.
I love talking gear and PRS, but the platforms…meh.

Now…if we’re talking antisocial media, I might run for president!😍😂

I'll be your running mate! This is the only place I'm active. I had a FB account only to be able to get in on something for Dream Theater tickets about a decade ago. Once that was over, I deleted my account. I am on IG, but only to follow others. I've never posted anything there.

And what is the result, vchizzle?

At PRS there will be an A&R division, which receives a lot of self-recommendations for endoresements.
I asume there will be periodicly boards in which - maybe by presence of Paul himself - decide, which and to which extent persons were offered an endorsement.
And I bet the multimedia range is only one factor for PRS to consider, if a musician is worthwhile to partner with. Maybe a margin factor.

There are only two A-level artists, which are long time and full endorsees. Santana and Tremonti.
Some were re-animated (David Grissom with his SE signature series).

Others behave like mercenaries seeking for short term gains and then leave or PRS suspends cooperation: Vernon Reid - now partnered with Reverend, Brent Mason, Chris Robertson and so on.

I know a guitarist of a famous band, who was surprised by a PRS endorsement. But it was not about to get a signature guitar. He didn't bond to the PRS. He ended up to reject and partnered with a local luthier, who built him a personal guitar, which is his daily workhorse in studio and on stage. He bought several guitars of the luthier. Their friendship and cooperation lasts minimum two decades.

I browse memes and shitposting on my personal accounts mostly

Keep my band instagram fairly active in terms of posts and interacting with other accounts and what not. Pretty midling, its sad the most popular thing our page has ever posted is a cringy comedic reel from a few weeks back. Its gotten nearly 60k plays and a couple thousand likes. Mean while if we actually post some actual music lucky to get 300 truncated plays 😆

Killed FB a couple of years ago, I miss the marketplace, though. I have never been on Tweeter, or anything else other than IG. I log to my Insta regularly once every 4 months. I don't consider myself antisocial, but I would rather be left alone most of the days. This is filtering friends really well; I have four people in my inner cycle I trust with my life. I take that over 1000 Facebook friends.

I’m on FB, primarily for Marketplace. Never posted a photo of myself, have no friends, and the only posts I’ve made are to sell guitars. I’m careful to only log in on a private browsing window, too.

I sound old.

Result? Not sure I understand the question. I’ve never pursued or asked anything of PRS. I’ve not applied to be a pulse artist. I just posted this thread kind of as stream of conscious thinking. I read at one point they want strong social media presence in the pulse artists. Hence the thread. I was just curious how many people were active on it. I’ve never had a facebook account, though I’m on the Gram- just fairly inactive the past few years. I was on twitter early on quite a bit. Started as a news source where I followed sports teams/writers and bands and music products I liked. Had the pulse artist program existed 15-20 years ago, I’d have probably been all over it. I was playing 80-100 gigs a year at that time.

I’ve been going through kind of a time of reflection lately a likely some mid life whatever right. Thinking about what I wanted to accomplish in music that I haven’t. I’m old enough to remember record deals, labels and music gear endorsements being a big deal. Times were so different back in the day. When I bought my first PRS, I couldn’t fathom ever being able to own multiples. I’m fortunate enough to have made decent enough money to accumulate a good amount of expensive gear. I don’t want for much in those terms or even need what I have. I’ve always received great support from PRS when needed. I do miss Shawn no longer being there though.

I wrote long time, JM is with PRS since 2018-ish. In comparison with Santana's and Tremonti's connection to PRS this is "new hire".
Of course he is A-level. But the main focus was on the time.
