Silver Sky with flatter radius and taller frets?

Wonder if there will ever be a Silver Sky with a flatter radius and taller frets? I love everything about the Silver Sky other than that. I mean I get the idea of wanting it to be like a “vintage” Fender, but a more “playable” fretboard is what I think the majority of players prefer these days. I tried a Silver Sky here for a couple of days and loved most everything about it but sent it back because I’m just so used to 9.5-12” radius and taller frets on all of my other guitars.

Anyone else who would prefer the option of a flatter board and taller frets on a Silver Sky?

Agree with you about the taller frets, I always prefer them, radius isn't as big an issue for me but as the silver sky is a signature model I think it's unlikely they would alter these specs unless they bring out a new version without any links to John Mayer

It would be nice. The radius didn't bother me when I tried one, but the short frets did. Don't get me wrong, great instrument, and there is no "wrong," but also there are plenty who prefer something different. I would definitely appreciate taller frets, and as long as we're changing things, might as well do a flatter radius.

That's a big part of why I walked out of the shop with an S2 Studio after shooting it out vs. a few Silver Sky models, that familiar radius and taller frets. I'm also more tonally accustomed to the vibe of mahogany bodies and necks.

I guess one thing to consider is whether JM would be have reason to be upset if PRS starting changing the specs and selling something very inspired by, but not, the SS. Would there be an issue with royalties, or would he just be offended if they took all the research they did making the SS and applied it to something else, etc.

There are plenty of strats out there with the specs you mention. The SS is a niche product designed for people who want the vintage specs. I think probably too much competition for a modern spec SS.

I know of at least one SS that has been refretted and I believe one that was reradiused.
I have no issues with the radius or frets on the SS, in fact I LOVE it as is. No issues for me on leads and LOVE it for chords.
I know there is a petition out there for a lefty Silver Sky you could add your request

Yeah I actually already own 3 of them. :) Vintage specs on all three other than the radius and frets. I just like the idea of a PRS Strat, and really liked the sound and neck carve of the SS, just wish there was a version with flatter board and taller frets like my Strats. I thought PRS might want some more of my money, that's all. ;}

No doubt they want your money, but they need way more than your money. I wonder if Warmoth makes a neck that would meet your needs. The SS is a bolt on, after all.

I think before I did that I’d just have my luthier buddy flatten the board and refret. Or maybe just refret with tall frets and dress them to 9.5”.

PRS posted a live video from the spray booth a couple days ago and a nebula was being sprayed in part of it.
Could they still be filling the orders from the original run or possibly making more?
I wonder if anyone will get a refinish with Nebula paint?
