Hello All - I’m pretty sure that a Silver Sky is in my relatively near future. I’m a big Strat fan - love the sounds and the comfort and balance of playing one. I also love things like mint green pickguards and ‘vintage white’ plastics. I think I saw that Mojoaxe offers a Silver Sky mint green guard but was wondering whether anybody has found other options for plastics other than the stock white? I suppose that aesthetics are important to me - has to look perfect on the stand, right!! Thanks.

I've seen various materials available from Mojoaxe over time, including white moto and tortoise, and maybe black moto. Keep an eye out for a few weeks if you're looking for something besides mint green. I bought a Mojoaxe white moto pickguard for my SS Nebula, and it's top notch. Perfect fit, and meticulously made.

Aesthetics are important to most of us around here... PRS is the king of looks! If anyone is ever is in doubt check out the private stock Friday thread

Also, I considered a darker guard for my SS, but don't like the "white plastic on dark guard" look (maybe this is what you were actually asking about?). I asked PRS customer service, and the pickup covers are not changeable. Also, the SS pickups don't have that slight "D" shape to them that Strat pickups do, and the SS pickup routs don't allow a standard Strat pickup to fit.

So all of that is a long way to say that you'd best like white pickups on that guitar, since there's not an easy way to change that.

Odd that I never noticed, but before reading your post, I didn’t realize that there is no such thing as a “dark guard, dark pickup, dark knob” Silver Sky as a factory option. My red one has (obviously) all white plastics, and I had considered a white pearl guard... and didn’t notice there were no other pickup cover options.

Well, there’s one more simple appearance option for the future!

Thanks to all for your replies - much appreciated. Good point about the pickup covers not being quite the same as Strat ones and I didn’t know that until now. That said, I’d be happy with a tungsten SS + mint green pickguard + white pickup covers/knobs! As a side project, I would maybe get a set of white pickup covers and knobs and see how they do being dunked in coffee to add ‘a little colour’. Now all I need to do is convince myself that the frets are close enough to my preferred 6105 to buy the first one I see online with a super dark rosewood fretboard! Thanks again!

For what it's worth, I just got my first SS this past week and I am in love.

For context, I have owned a Peavey, Big Apple Strat, Deluxe, 50th Anniversary, EJ, VHR '62, and stopped when I bought a heavy relic 3-TSB Danocaster double cut about 5 years ago or so. That guitar is a classic and has a well aged looking parchment/yellowed guard and looks like it has been used for over 50 years.

I favored cream and mint guards, too -- and that was a huge turnoff for me, initially, weighing against the SS models. I can say this, now that I have one in arms' reach -- it looks amazing in person. The stark white doesn't look like a mistake or something overlooked, but fits the overall aesthetic of a modern update to a classic guitar. I doubt I will change it on my tungsten. But if I did... I would want matching pup covers and controls, for consistency.

And, as much as I like coffee, I don't like to smell it on my guitars! lol.

Get one soon and start playing -- most comfortable Strat neck I've ever played. Reminds me of a 63/64 SG I played once.

There’s places that sell stickers for changing the look of pickup bobbins that might do the trick. Couldn’t find any for the Silver Sky per se on a quick Google, but I’m sure someone could make it happen.
