I'm certain someone has done this. I love the SS but after owning it for a year I need to change the radius.

My local luthier is excellent and has set it up well (30+ years of service), so PLEASE refrain from telling me I just need it setup properly.

My question for the forum is - has anyone done this? AND are they happy with the results?

Many thanks!!

My thought on plek job is that a well built guitar with proper attention to the frets should not need it.

There are few PRS dealers out there that make plek part of their sales pitch. I avoid buying Plek’d prs usa made guitars. There’s no need.

Yep, any good luthier will tell you that it's just another tool. It's like giving a luthier perfect hands, so it's great for consistency, but they still have to know what makes a guitar play great.

I've had a couple stainless refrets done by a great luthier and they play so well I can't imagine a Plek giving me anything better.

I agree. Planing down the middle of the fretboard means scalping some birdies. Just get a Fiore.

The inlays are pretty thick based on the PRS inlay vids I've seen, so there should be plenty material there. (*Should* being the key word, I haven't seen vids of the Silver Sky birds going in, so I make no guarantee!)

If they come out with a maple board version I shall be sorely tempted.
If I get my Merican Silver Sky sorted out otherwise, I’m OK with the fretboard radius. Last night I jumped from roundest to flattest, Silver Sky (7.25”) to JP12 BFR (17”) and back several times. That’s like Dolly Parton to Julie Bowen. And just like that would be, I was totally OK with the switch. Night and day difference, but just doesn’t bother me. Both feel great!
