Signature under neck pickup!

Under the neck pickup in my CE-24 discovered signature "Paul" and date. What it means?

If you compare that to his known signature, it looks like its PRS himself. Althouh very different, notice how the P is written the same way. Striking down and then whipping up and around to make the top. The L is a loop of sorts, going up and around.
