Very true, although sometimes I feel crazy for choosing a Zoom over an Eventide.

Yeah, my body type at the moment is probably better suited to cow print.

I dunno man, you could give the gold lame a rest and try the zebra. Just remember; horizontal stripes make things look bigger and vertical stripes are slimming. Got think about what you're going for.

Home gear. I have the ES-8 set up to run either like a straight in line pedalboard or 4 cable method to run some time based effects in the Archon loop and the rest in front of the amp. I just program each preset for however I want to run it.

Think of it this way; there was the 808 and the Linn Drum. The Linn was much “better.” The 808 became the classic piece to own long after it was discontinued in 1983.

There’s no explaining stuff. Some things just work for your sound.

I kid around about modelers because they don’t work for me. I can even go on a semi-serious rant over them. But the bottom line is, what works for a player really can’t be disagreed with, and that’s why I should stay in my cave, I guess.

I love your setup, Vaughn. Amps, pedalboard, heck, the room is nicer looking than mine!

Man, I always wanted both of those machines! I’ll skip the trip down electronic music lane that’ll only entertain the two of us, and agree with your analogy.

However just to be clear, I’m not really using those Zooms for stuff I consider modeling, just effects and no amp, distortion, or cabinet stuff... they’re just phasers and delays and things like that.

Thanks Les! I finally just got that pedalboard up and running today. I avoided it for a long time. The whole room was a disaster area with stuff laying all over the floor for months. Nice to be able to walk in there and not cringe. Plug into either amp and just enjoy it.

The pedalboard looks clean asa whistle, too. You did a beautiful, professional looking job wiring it up, and the installation is awesome.

Really cool. Looks like one of the famous LA touring techs put it together.

I knew that; I just wanted to put my acceptance of all musical gear out there.

Awesome set up!
How are you using the EQ with the boost cut all the way? Just curious

My rig is a bit of a disaster right now. Not sure I could assemble it for a group photo without having to spend an hour or two moving stuff around.

The gist of it is these guitars (sold the Rectoverb combo awhile ago)

This part is a work in progress (pending me making more money)

2 TC-50’s = 2X Awesome!
Must be difficult to step on the pedals, looking forward to seeing the final setup

Had to wait until rehearsal.

The cabinet is really messing with my aesthetic, and I can’t escape the Zooms.... they’ve knocked a pile of “nicer” stuff off my board.
I’m jazzed that the Bogner Red is still rockin’ the DG for you. IMO, most people pigeonhole certain pedals as “only for this genre” and miss out on something fantastic. We all know you aren’t most people, so I should have known you’d reveal its awesomeness. Rock on! Great looking rig, btw.

Is that one of them Santaners you’ve been talking about? :p

I’ve got some red and off-white spray paint you can borrow :p

Believe me, it has crossed my mind!

Thanks again for hooking me up with the Red! It’s such a versatile pedal that sounds like an extra “real” amp channel ( or two even, if you count the boost) lots of different sounds in there if you don’t instinctively dime the gain.

You know, sometimes I think I’m using all my gear “wrong”. I’m not playing the first guitar you’d think of for clean-n-clear funk/disco/R&B rhythms, through cheap modelers that I only use for effects, a distortion pedal normally reserved for heavy alt rock/metal, and an expensive amp designed for a crunchy Americana/Texas blues guy.... I mean, most folks would just buy a Strat, a tube screamer, and a Deluxe Reverb and call it a day!

And while there is something to using the “appropriate” selections for specific applications, there’s real magic to be found when you use the “wrong” stuff and it turns out “right”.

Hell ^yeah!

Personally, I throw in extra “amazing artist” category points when uniqueness and creativity are applied. That equation = brilliance/genius, to me. The truest creativity is when 1+2=465,321...or, 35,655 * 244=2. That’s Brian May territory.
