Love that top!Charcoal crusher from Doug Diamond…
Ish guitars always likes to put it as "PS at half the price" and in many ways they are correct! I know my WL 594 HBII from Ish looks PS to me and better than many PS I have seen of the same model ;~)) Then again, there are things about PS that simply can not be done at the WL price level, including the amount of time that every detail, seen or unseen, is painstakingly addressed by the best of the best in the PRS crew!!!Several of these are making me question my understanding of the difference between Wood Library and Private Stock! Also, making me question my life choices ...
Wood library does not have their own classification for tops as far as I know. A WL can have no top (solid guitar with no layers in the body/top/back), standard top, 10 top, artist grade top or PS top. Artist tops do NOT get a classification on the back of the headstock the way 10 tops do, but they are supposed to be the next level up from 10 top. Wood libraries can be very plain, it is all up to the dealer (within limitations set by PRS) who is required to buy them in lots of 10 pieces. What’s the difference between wood library and artist tops?

Yep.... And for now there will be no new Artist Grade guitars produced.Thank you, so the top levels are still standard, 10 tops, artist then private stock, but wood library tops basically vary according to the run and each run is consistent only within that run and each run itself varies from standard, 10, artist and ps tops
Good point, I forgot about that! Artists are dead!! Well, for new births anyway at this time!!!Yep.... And for now there will be no new Artist Grade guitars produced.
Really, no more artist top/guitars?Yep.... And for now there will be no new Artist Grade guitars produced.
The "Artist" series guitars are not currently being produced. Now that does not mean that there are not still some "artist grade" tops in the library, but the series of guitars they were originally marked for are not being made at the moment and may never be again. Those tops will likely go to WL runs or PS builds!Really, no more artist top/guitars?
That neck is special! My only WL currently.
