This was a fairly rare puppy at the time I owned it. McCarty IRW Soapbar Standard. Even though I’m a humbucker guy, wish I still had it for the cool factor. “Who’s arms are holding her now”?
standard = mahogany block (back in the day). Not sure if “standard” still has the same meaning today. I can’t keep track of all the PRS models, anymore!
He did work with Vuitton many many times, I always wanted the pair of boxing gloves he designed for them but, didn’t have a spare $8500 earmarked for sporting goods during the ordering window. When I was doing those guitars I envisioned a Fendi one, and then of course a Chanel one, but I couldn’t figure out how I’d finish the edges of a real quilt top. And while not Karl’s, I always thought I’d do a Versace guitar out of one of the original SE Santana’s with the slash inlays because they’d be perfect for a Versus motif. Personally, I’ve always thought PRS should do a Fashion Week crossover/collaboration like other high end luxury brands do. Their design, execution, and elegance would certainly fit in. But ya know.... Yeehaw! NASCAR and some sh!t instead.
^^^This guy pushed me (nicely) into Soapy territory.^^^ Thank you sir. Played 594 Soapy all night at practice tonight.
