I have never played one, I'm sure the clean channel will be great. What's the lead channel going to sound like ? I play mostly 80s Rock .

Yes, yes, and did I mention YES?!?!

Honestly, go play the H combo and you should easily find your sound in there. It is a great amp!

I'm kinda wondering the same....

I've been using a DSL40C for the last couple of years, mostly a bedroom player but I'm starting to get with a few other people lately to play. It's a good amp, but lately I'm not so much in love with it as I was originally. I've not had the chance to try any of the PRS amps, so wondering what you might recommend to try out as a replacement for it.

I mostly play classic rock and blues type of music, and have EPi's, a couple Gibbies, and recently picked up a Custom 24 SE ( which I totally love so far ). I very seldom use any effects or pedals.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Also consider the Archon. I am gigging with it for classic and modern rock and it is sweet. I am considering getting a 2-channel H or custom 50 as well, I think they are both "modern" sounding. The Archon surely is.

It's not even a close call, actually. The PRS amps are major leaguers, the DSL is playing ball in Hoboken.

Yes yes yes.. Major difference , fantastic sound. No regrets at all. The major difference between them is 2 things. The clean channel can get very warm and smooth also can get the high pitched chime. The lead channel has a very tight gain compaired to the DSL not as abrasive ( you can actually hear the notes ) It's tight but very clear when maxed out. More gain than I will ever need.

Great observation. I have a close friend who's done lots of session work for me, and when he heard the HXDA he said, "What's great about this amp is that you can hear the guitar's notes AND the distortion surrounding them!"

Same thing with the new amp you have. It's really a great characteristic of PRS amps, IMHO.

Awesome! Glad you're happy with your trade!

Great trade. You can always pick up another DSL rather easily. I really just kinda fell into my Archon 25 as well. Had a $700 ESP ltd guitar and some cash, and the next thing I know I was carrying it out. Should have it back from the shop next week as it had a bit of an issue in the preamp stage.
