Should I return it or get it fixed?

After contacting the dealer I was instructred to contact PRS if want to get it fixed. I'm wrestling with the idea of getting it fixed or just return it and be done.
I don't like that answer one bit! If you "want to get it fixed"!! It is a brand new guitar, there should be no fixing and if there is, the dealer should be the ones initiating this process best I know. Is this an authorized PRS dealer you bought from? I have never heard of an authorized dealer suggesting you contact PRS direct for almost anything.

I thought the dealer should have handled the process as well, but that's what I was instructed to do. I have the option to just return the guitar or have it fixed, I will make that decision first thing tomorrow. Yes, I purchased it from an authorized dealer.

My guess it wont be a dealer for long anymore.

But this blows and is weird. QC should have fixed this. There are several points in the process where a high fret would stand out. warch the new vid "from the factory floor" about building necks.

You dhould return it to get it fixed. It is not either or...

The dealer definitely should have addressed this, or at least helped you address it.

When I bought my SE Silver Sky, I noticed some buzzing in the higher frets. I figured it just needed a truss rod tweak, but I asked the salesman about it anyway. He said, "Let's check it out to be sure." Sure enough, it had some high frets. 15-20 minutes later, that thing played as smooth as silk. A good dealer will make sure you're happy with it.

My vote is to return it and do business with another dealer. From my understanding, the dealer should be handling the process even if it has to go back to PRS for warranty work. That’s how it was explained by my dealer when I asked about potential QA challenges on a brand new guitar.

That is the whole point of the dealer model that PRS uses. Issues run through the dealer that the guitar was purchased from, with the dealer working with PRS to resolve the issue. I’d return it and avoid that dealer in the future.

Which dealer is it?

Ditto this! Return it and find a new dealer.

Indeed, and a dealer's margin is there in part to cover customer service issues like this. As others have said, I would definitely return it and buy from another dealer. You'll be able to get what you paid for faster than waiting for PRS to turn it around, and you should have more confidence in whatever dealer you choose.

While I usually prefer to buy local, my experience with Sweetwater was excellent when buying my 408 Wood Library Semi-Hollow. Now they even offer Plek-Pro service, and I see that they currently have 8 MEV's in stock... :)

Curious - what color is it?

Thanks for all the replies.

After contacting PRS through their website I was sent a return label for evaluation. I haven't heard a word from the dealer after being instructed to do this myself, but if it returns back to me in unsatisfactory condition, then I will request a refund.

Definitely

Must have somehow gotten past the quality control check with that. I merely have an SE and all the fretting is good and straight and level.
