Should I buy this McCarty?

I am new to PRS. I spent many years playing telecasters, and looking to get into PRS guitars with the McCarty. I found one on reverb, and curious if this is a good deal for a 2002 core model. Should I try offering lower? It's 1999$ US.

IMO It is Priced A Bit High And Especially With Not Having Birds. All That Said, They Are Nice Guitars. Offer Away, You Can Always Increase Your Offer If They Say No.

+1 on this.

Before making an offer, I'd be as sure as possible that it's exactly what you want. Hopefully you've had a chance to play some, including some that are all mahogany. Even if you haven't had hands on experience, the dealer's return policy isn't too onerous.

The McC is great as a rule. I think this price is a little high, but you'll probably love it. I have grown to prefer the McC range. For everything. They are just phenomenal.

Update: I drove to a local PRS dealer to try a few different models. I came away really liking the DGT. It felt really nice in my hands and sounded beautiful. I really liked it and the McCarty reissue (not the 594) which I’m unsure how it compares to the older ones.

I wasn’t a big fan of the custom 24 and CE24. While they sounded good, the neck didn’t feel comfortable to me. I also tried the 594 and it didn’t wow me.

Between the McCarty and DGT they both felt pretty good in my hands. The McC had a thick neck which I liked, and simple controls. The DGT just felt right to me and sounded the best out of the bunch, but pretty close to the McC.

Now I might just save up and buy a DGT instead, but the difference in price is huge around me. That McCarty I posted is listed at 1999$ US and the cheapest DGT I can find is 3300$ US.

Is it 1300$ different though, that’s what will be tough for me to decide

I picked up my 2000 McCarty back in Feb on reverb it was listed at 1999. I got it for 1775 and it has a flame maple cap on it. So I would definitely throw em an offer lower. Sorry if the seller posts here. Lol

If you like the thicker midrange of a mahogany guitar, and don’t need a trem, offer him 1700. If you want more range, by all means look at the 408.
