Shinedown - Zach Myers Plays the McCaffrey Green Vodka Muff Pedal

Pedal sounds awesome. I agree I wish the video was longer though, would of been nice for him to run through a few of the different settings.

On a slightly separate note, I'm so super excited for the new shinedown album!!! I can't believe I need to wait till next year for them to tour the UK.

I read some of the comments for the vid there, and they are cutting him down for his playing and bad sound.
Let's see their vids!

I personally think his playing was good. and the guitar and pedal sound great.
I think this is probably people hating on shinedown, they're at that unfortunate size where they're not big enough to be loved by everyone but they are big enough to attract "haters".

I enjoyed it. One thing I'm learning to dislike about the guitar community are comments like those. I've been playing for a year and 7 months now. I'm nowhere near as good as many people I've seen with my experience. I probably don't have the time to play that many of them do. But when did guitar playing and music in general become a competition? I love to play guitar and i continually find myself progressing, which is very satisfying.

Yeah, just about every pedal, amp, or guitar review has haters in it, and they got told off to post up their vids, and the haters never respond back of course 'cause they cannot play diddly squat.

His playing was fine, short clip as mentioned. I reviewed this pedal a few months back for the Tone Report, it's a good muff derivative for sure. But this video didn't sound like a muff hardly at all, sounded like an overdrive, like either the gain was turned back all the way, or his guitar's volume knob was also set low. I dunno, a muff to me should be balls out, and this short clip certainly wasn't. I can't read the comments as they're disabled. In any event, I wouldn't leave a negative comment, I don't care for all the negativity either. But maybe that was part of the gist of these comments, I dunno.

I think unfortunately for Zach, he's more of a blues/rock guy that worked his way into a modern hard rock band. Not a bad move on his part, he got in right when Shinedown was huge. But then there are a bunch of guys that just want to hear someone shred, and here he is playing blues licks, and those guys are gonna piss and moan. I mean, I can sympathize with him, I'm the same kind of player and I was in a hard rock band... well, minus the fame, paychecks, and signature PRS model, I can't really sympathize with that part! But I think despite the way Shinedown was when he joined, he's not pretending to be the ultra-metal shred guy, look at his sig model, that's not a shred axe by any means. And he did a heck of a job designing it BTW, PRS has probably sold more ZM's in the last couple years than any other model, except Custom 24's.
