Serial Number

Hi,

I've owned a custom 24 (Bought nearly new) since 1990. I tried to work out its age but the serial number didn't quite tie in with what the PRS site said but that was many years ago! Does anyone know what the serial number 7 3705 relates to? (Or where to research this?)

Either ‘87, ‘97, or ‘07. Should be an ‘87 based on your story.

The years are correct, but the serial numbers that are shown slot into the next year.
It does say “Approximate Serial Numbers” right on top of the chart.

Thanks for explanations and guidance. I've looked at the link to the serial numbers and the year has to be 87.

Considering you bought it new in 90 and said its a custom 24 I'd say it's an 87 that was finished in 88 or around there with the later out of range serial number.

Thanks for your view. That mirrors my thought. It's in very good condition but the volume pot is a bit noisy. (It has moons, or crescents if you prefer as bird inlays were an optional extra!)

Moons > birds anyhow.. yup I said it!

Spray the volume pot with Deoxit contact cleaner. Good stuff that's saved plenty a pots for me.

Serial number alone would indicate 1987
