Semi-Hollow Wood library 594's

There are a few of these still left on the market. Owners, what do you think of them? Is it better to have a solid body 594 or is the hollowbody more resonant?

Do you like the Cocobolo fretboards?

I love my SH. It is more resonant, and has a nice woody/airy quality to it. Mine has a maple neck and board, though. It sounds different enough compared to my DC594 that I'll keep both.

You really can’t go wrong with any 594 but the semi hollow is my favorite compared to the solid body. I concur with Bodia that it has a nice air to the sound and a deep full tone. Mine has a maple neck and African Blackwood fretboard so mine may be a bit brighter than a mahogany neck/back model.

I specifically sought out the semi hollow 594, since I have several solidbody McCarty type guitars, and some full-hollows too.

Haven't had any second thoughts since acquisition - there's some air in the tone and attack, yet they sustain for days.

Go ahead and order one - no reason not to. Willcutt's are fine people.

I do have lust for a SH 594 I'd throw some 11s with a wound 3rd on it !!!!

Since you mention it - yes, I did try 11-50s (nickel wound) on it. While the 11s gave it a bigger sound, I thought they lost some of the chime and sparkle of this guitar, so I went back to 10-46s.

It's a distinctive guitar in more than looks. It has an open, clear, airy sound to it. It's got a distinct enough voice - different from my PRS McCarty solids and hollow bodies - that it's not a duplication.

(That's my rationalization, and I'm sticking with it!)

I got it from Ish Guitars. I had it at Pete's for 594 Fest, but no one got a chance to check it out since I had to bolt.

I don't have a WL 594, but mine is indeed semi-hollow. I think it sounds great, and the lighter weight is a nice treat. But I don't have a solidbody 594 to compare it to (yet).
