Hi folks,

I picked up a second hand SE277 that had EMGs installed but came with the original 85/15S pups. Not really loving the EMGs so want to go back to how the guitar came stock.

I'm comfortable soldering but a newb with guitar wiring so just want to make sure I'm fully clear on what needs doing before startying. I found this wiring schematic on the PRS site (https://d159anurvk4929.cloudfront.net/documents/se_277__wiring_schematics.pdf) but notice that iconnection points for neck red and bridge green wires isn't show. Also, the black wire has a second wire inside the wrapping which isn't shown on the schematic.

Is there a more complete wiring diagram or can anyone help me understand where all the wires are meant to connect? All contributions appreciated. Thanks!

The wires not shown in the diagram all go to ground. Solder them to the most convenient spot, like a pot casing or the body of the push pull switch.

You can wrap the bare wire with the colored wire and solder them together to keep the wiring clean.

Thanks, garrett.Makes perfect sense in terms of the unmarked red and green ones.

This may be a dumb question, but if I can fuse the two wires wrapped in black why have them isolated from each other in the first place?

Not dumb at all! The bare wire is just for grounding the pickup. By having the different start/end wires of the coils separate allows you to do different wirings like parallel or out-of-phase.

Thanks again, garrett. Really helpful and that makes perfect sense. I'm happy that I've got enough of an understanding now to have a shot at it. Hoping to have time this week to do the work - I'll post an update on the result.
