Hey folks!

I'm about to buy a new guitar. I'm actually playing an aria gt (really really low quality instrument), which i bought when I started playing the guitar, one year ago.
Now I want a guitar that lasts for the time I'll spend at the university (at least 3 years).

I've been thinking about the PRS SE Zach Myers or the SE Custom 22 semi-hollow.
I love the looks of both of them, both have great reviews and they're said to be great sounding quality instruments. Sadly, I never got a chance to play one of each.

Now I'd like to ask you, which one would you prefer and why?
And why is the Custom 22 semi-hollow, more expensive than the ZM? They have both more or less the same equipment and are manufactured the same way.

Thank you very much for your Help!
Best wishes from Switzerland :)

I would get the ZM. I've not tried the Custom Semi, I'm sure it's a great guitar, but the ZM is a premium axe. It has the fully adjustable tailpiece, individual tone and volume for each pickup, and the pickups themselves, the SE 245's, are the best SE pickups to date IMO. The 24.5" scale is also very comfortable. Of course, get whatever YOU like most, but if you want opinions, I would pick the ZM.

Best of luck in your guitar search, be sure and post when you get one!

Thank you very much, this was already pretty helpful!
The ZM impesses me. How can a guitar, built with such a low budget, can habe such a great sound and playability?
It's not much more expensive than my aria, but the sound of mine is just horrible.
Is there a quality difference between the ZM and the CU22 semi-hollow?
It's the only way for me, to explain the higher price of the CU22.

Same quality, but what does it for me is the thinner neck on the CU Semi-Hollow 22 and 25" scale.
I just like it better than my ZM.

Quality should be equal. I'd go with the Zach because I like the specs better. That and because I had one and am bummed it's gone now. All for the greater good, but still, it was a great guitar. Also like the satin finish neck on the Zach.

I own a ZM and sold my 2012 SE Semi Hollow to purchase the new SE Semi Hollow 22 in orange. Though it was a beautiful guitar, I could not bond with the neck as I feel I am more partial to the wide fat neck of the ZM and previous semi hollow model. Just comes down to your preference.

TY, I find the CU 22 neck is thinner than advertised since they say it is wide/fat.
I guess that is why I have bonded with it since I like thinner necks.

Thanks for your opinions!
I see the ZM has a lot of big fans. But anyway, I've got to check out the neck. Thank god I found a more or less local dealer, who has the ZM (spalted maple ltd edition :D) I'll go there, try and if the neck's too fat, I'll order the custom 22 semi'hollow!

I just picked up a SE Tremonti Custom, but that neck feels wider than advertised but love it. Also doubled down on the ZM, the sunburst is on the way to keep the trampas company.

I just picked up the CU22 semi hollow. I, too, was mulling over the both of them. In the end, I just didn't like the slightly thicker neck on the ZM. ... not a fan of the green either, and a small part of me does not want someones name on the headstock haha. The regular SE pickups will do for now, they're not awful.
