Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before... kinda in a rush. I'm about to buy a PRS SE Tremonti Custom second hand but I don't know how the trem system works...

The PRS website describes it as a "PRS Designed Trem with Trem-Up Route" but here's my question... I plan on drop tuning the guitar a bunch for metal, and will this style of trem require much more work if I want to significantly down tune it? If so, how long would it take roughly and how much skill is required (I'm still a novice especially to the hardware side of guitars)?

Also, is drop tuning this similar to a genuine Floyd in terms of time taken?

Thanks.

If you're dropping it and leaving it there then you're set up isn't difficult. It's when you try to go back and forth from standard to drop tunings that makes it a pain.

You will likely need some adjustments to the trem springs and need to check and adjust your intonation. If you're not comfortable doing that then find a local tech that you can take it to. Ima properly set up guitar plays like butter compared to one that's not. I learned to do all my own sets up. Watching YouTube is a good start. One you learn how things work and how the pieces interact, it's a breeze.

So like if I got the guitar and say wanted to drop tune it would be only 15 minutes or so of work?

Yeah i could do it in about 10-15 minutes but I've been doing this stuff for like 20 years
