Hello to all PRS members. I’m a newbie to the forum and PRS guitars generally.
Also a dinosaur who’s been playing forever. I’ve always liked the PRS axes but have never had the bucks to buy one. Not cheap in the US and killer expensive in Australia. With some trepidation a took a shot at a used SE Custom24 online through Reverb about 12 months ago while in COVID lockdown and I love this thing.
Amazed at how much guitar it is for the price. Now looking at the upgrades I’d like to try.
Ordered a set of 57/08s and eagerly waiting for them.
Now looking at changing the trem system. Does anybody know if the Gen11 drops straight in ? I’ve had a look at the Mann site and they sound cool but I’d prefer to have something without a logo etched into the top plate.
apologies for being so long winded and promise unequivocally not to be in future. Glad to be aboard and looking forward to a new world of all things PRS

Not sure about the Gen 1, but you could always go with the Mannmade upgrade kit which give you the brass block and saddles to install on the SE trem plate. A great tone upgrade (and visual upgrade over the SE saddles) without having the branded plate.

I have installed Mann trems on both my SEs. They seem to be higher quality. I couldn’t say definitively that it did too much for the sound. But they are incredibly well made.

Placebo effect mostly, however that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you firmly believe it’ll make a difference then you’ll also firmly believe it has once you’ve done it. And, not that expensive either.

If you like the way the guitar sounds after the 57/08’s, then don’t change the bridge. Remember, different doesn’t necessarily mean better. I’ve gone both ways, depending on the guitar.
