SE Trem Clamp Screws

Hello All
Just purchased my first PRS after drooling for ages: PRS SE Tremonti Custom in Tobacco Sunburst. Bought it new a few days ago and love it. Pulled off the back trem cover off and noticed the two screws that hold the clamp are at a downward angle into the body. They are not parallel to the back of the body.

I've only had one other guitar (Fender MIM) with a trem and the screws were not angled like that. Is it normal on SE's to have angled clamp screws? Should I return it?

Will post pics later. Thanks in advance for any help!

They are angled "up" (towards the backplate) on purpose a little bit to allow you to get a screwdriver on them without danger of stripping the head. The angle needs to be enough to clear the other side of the cavity with a typical screwdriver - 15-20 deg I'm guessing. Pics would be good, though, so we can advise on your specific case...

Thanks for the quick response! Here are a couple shots. Couldn't get a good angle but I can take more this evening.

Whew! That's a relief. I've already fallen for her and would hate to have to send her back. Also noticed some thick lube on the screws. Is that normal?

I'm thinking of installing a Tremol-no but it appears I will have to fill/redrill since this is an SE. I feel comfortable doing that but does anyone have some experience with this and can offer any advice?

Thanks again for the help. Been really impressed with the people on this forum so far.

I put a tremol-no on my SE. I just drilled a new hole for one of the screws and used one existing. No issues and it's easy enough to put the original claw back in if need be.

The lube is fine. Those screws need to turn whenever desired, not just once when installed, so lots of lube helps keep them slippery enough to turn. Probably not needed so much, but better too much than too little for that usage.
