Been looking into locking tuners, different discussion, and noticed the SE Pauls string posts are very short compared with other PRS, and other brand too!

I don't see any spec or mention of this, am I nuts or are they different?

I just went and pulled my SE Paul's tuners out and measured.

Not scientific by any means, but the tuner shaft length on the classic style stockers is 15/16" (.9375) and the string feed hole is a little over 25/32" (.781) from the base. The phase 3 tuners I put on are 1 1/16" (1.0625) in length (not including the locking screw at the top) and the string feed hole is a at 27/32" (.843).
The break angle at the nut is a little more shallow. At least it is with the phase III locking tuners compared to the stockers.
So you are right, the tuner shafts are shorter, at least compared to phase III's.

See thats what I need! Thanks for checking with a measurin' stick.

Off topic, are those the original ferrules or are they Phase 3 on the example you posted on your SE PG? I like the ebony buttons!

No problem.
Yeah, those are the original ferrules. The phase III's were a bigger O.D. and I didnt opt to enlarge the headstock holes and stuck with the stockers. The only permannent mod was a shallow countersink to the tuner holes on headstock backside to allow the phase III's to sit flush.
