Fearless Papa of The Brethren of the Crust
So got this axe back in May last year, and over the next several months kept adding a mod here and there till I think I've got what I want. So here's what's different from stock:
- Locking tuners, used Gotoh MD-90's
- Electronics still the same, no need to replace that. Pickups are stellar.
- Bone nut.
- Knobbies from Q-Parts.
- Pickup covers from Philly Luthier Supply. Only place I know that offers black chrome, and that's what you see here. Call me odd, I like solid covers without holes.
- New zebrawood rings from Guiliford. Never thought I'd blow that kind of dough on rings, but well...they be purty. I would like to stain match these to the body, but...we'll see.
- Schaller strap locks. Yeah, I'm not taking any chances.
- New bridge. I had a Pigtail music bridge that I used on my Singlecut for like six years. This was a tough call, but ultimately decided to put it on this one. I like both this and the stock bridge alot, but the Pigtail is adjustable. I snuck a thin brass washer under the studs to keep the thing from tilting forward. Works perfect.
- New truss cover. I'm a dragon nerd, and this guitar kinda has a sea dragon vibe to it. Too bad the guy I bought from doesn't seem to make this one anymore.
BTW, those arent scratches, just dust. All in all I probably invested another $200 into these extras, but its worth it. Most of these are cosmetic, but the nut absolutely needed replacing. The locking tuners are just brilliant.
