SE NF3?!

Oh good, another guitar for people to complain that you can’t replace with standard pickups.
I mean id bet that you just need to find someone to cut a pickguard and you can fit alot more. But stock..yeah. At least its easier than the TCI/Pauls pickups/408/513/509 type.

I'm not familiar with the NF pups...are they HBs?? Can you play with gain?? Im diggin the bolt ons PRS is putting out...more snap and attack...my one gripe with my PRSi sound is the absence of that attack with ally S2s...but my SAS has it....

Hmm, interesting!

I'd rather have an old core NF3, though.

But I have too much other GAS that is higher priority, including the recent procurement of another non-PRS guitar (that's three in a row, I think) that fills a niche/need that PRS cannot.

Would be cool if they released a new US bolt on. The reverse of normal. Se then US version 2. I'd be down with that.

Edit- The more I think about it the more I think it's possible to see a US version comeback. They brought back the CE. I'd be gun shy too since it took so long to catch on for the players the first time around. Much easier to test the market waters with a se.

I want one, surprisingly. I'm digging the gray/maple. Once I get my new Ibanez J Custom and pay the balance, the SE NF3 is on the lust...(list - Freudian slip).

Shoot, I already know how I'm gonna mod it...

1. New pickguard in aged pearl with EG3 style slanted pickups

2. Master volume and a G&L PTB circuit.

3. I have an extra Alembic Blaster left over from a recent build (shown below for fun). That could be cool if the pickups are on the quieter side...

4. Mannnade trem, locking tuners....

Last build...

That body is going to be very poplar.

I think it’s an interesting concept… “we (PRS) and they (the critics) loved the NF3, but they didn’t sell enough. Then they became cult-classic guitars, selling for more than new a decade later. How can we bring them back without a core-level investment? Ahhhh… SE.”

Jokes aside, they look nice and I hope they succeed well enough to hang around this time. The two NF3s I have are truly great playing, mega-versatile guitars. If these SEs compare at all, it’ll be a fun guitar.

Just checked them at Sweetwater. $799 price is pretty awesome, and they look great. Really nice colors too.

I just spoke to someone at sweetwater...the pups are very single coily sounding i was told...without hum...may not be a good fit for my style...but otherwise like the specs...

I just watched Paul's quick video (on YouTube). He emphasized that these new humbuckers "sound exactly like single coils... not kinda like single coils". From what I heard, they couldn't sound less like "traditional" single coils. At best, a hot P90. I actually really liked the sound of them, but not what I'd buy if looking for single coil tones.
