I’m not a real big fan of the pickups in my SE 594. Do any of you have any pickup recommendations? I play stuff like Rush, some Zeppelin and Blues Rock.

Thanks for your time and feedback.

I intended to change the pickups in mine, and especially because I play metal mostly. But I found that adjusting the pickup height made a big difference and now I like them a lot, even though they are fairly low output. For the type of music you listed, I'm surprised these aren't perfect.

Also, I should note that I typically change out the pickups in almost all guitars I buy.

Jim Wagner Crossroads neck and Godwood bridge. Absolutely slays in my s2 594.

Pricey but worth it
I've had that combo of Wagner pickups in my Les Paul Studio for several years now. They turned that guitar into an excellent sounding LP with that exact "tone in your head" for me completely.

The pickups were a big reason why I don't have my S2 594 anymore.

For classic rock / blues you want a good PAF variant. As others have mentioned, 57/08 or 59/09 are great options. Personally I have & really like the 57/08, SD Pearly Gates as well as Wolfetone Marshallhead (bridge) / Dr Vintage (neck) with Alnico IV set in LP style guitars.

BKP Black Dogs
BKP Mules

If You Want Slightly Hotter But Familiar Feel And Attributes Try These

BKP Rebel Yells
Suhr Aldrich

My First Choice In Your Application Would Be The Black Dogs. They Are Exceptional Pickups And Do All Kinds Of Things Really Well.

Good Luck!

I just read about the Bare Knuckle PolyPAF’s. They sound interesting. What do you guys think?
Great Pickups. I Am A Big Fan Of BKP. I Still Believe For Your Listed Musical Preferences And Said Guitar I Would Still Go BKP Black Dog's In That Guitar For What You Want As My First Choice. The Poly's Are Great Though. I Have Them In A Traditional McCarty And Really Like Them. I Prefer Them In Double Cut Guitars As Opposed To Singlecut's.

My guitar is a SE McCarty 594 Double-cut. So you’re thinking the PolyPAF’s?

I Like The Polymath Pickup Better In Double Cut Guitars As Opposed To Singlecut Guitars. The Pickups Are Great! Still...In Your Situation, I Think The Black Dogs Would Work Best Based On Everything You Mentioned. I Have Them In Both Singlecut And Double Cut Models. Both Sets Are Wonderful And Would Work In Your Application. I Simply Feel, Based Off Of My Experience And Findings That The Black Dogs Would Be Just A Bit Better For The Musical Stuff You Mentioned. The Polymaths Are A More Contemporary/Modern Type Pickup. The Black Dogs Lean A Bit More To Traditional/Vintage Type Things But In A Much Improved Way IMO.I Hope That Helps Clarify. :)

57/08s are awesome on every way. However, I put 58/15LTs in mine. I am very happy.

LTs are excellent. Personally I think they are arguably the best neck pickup PRS makes (LT or 5708) and the LT middle tone is great. The LT bridge is where I always want a bit more.. easy fix move the LT bridge to the neck of another guitar and pair both with a 5708 and 5909.
