(Edit: This is an illusion created by the curvature of the top. The bridge is parallel to the strings and flat part of the top. See below.)

I was doing a string change and noticed posts are leaning forward a bit. The guitar is a month old. It's not the bridge leaning inside the post space, it's the post itself. The first two pics show the space between the back and front of the bridge and the guitar (much more space at the rear), the second two show the angle from the side.

I also noticed the intonation is uniformly out of adjustment, where the whole bridge needs to be moved back. Obviously not a big deal, but since the guitar is so well setup otherwise it makes me think maybe the bridge posts shifted.

What do you think? Not trying to complain, just want to see if it needs a correction or if I should just forget about it.

Thanks for reading!

To me... yes. I would investigate about why that bridge is acting like that. I could not stand that kind of lean. I wouldn't make me sleep at night.

hi,

i had exactly the same issue with my SEHBII Piezo and it was returned as faulty to Thomann who offered to replace it without quibble - its worrying that you are experiencing the same issue though!

I would speak to the dealer you purchased it from and tell them you are also aware of at least one other with the exact same problem.

my replacement instrument is due for delivery next week sometime after a 3 month wait for new stock!!!

Maybe one of the PRS mods should look into this in more detail? @prsguitars

I raised a post in the general forum if you want to go take a look?

Cheers

Paul

I looked more closely and believe it’s an illusion. The guitar top is flat under the strings but curves down toward the tail. The curve starts before the bridge so, while the bridge is parallel to the flat/strings, it looks angled relative to the curve.

I checked with a straight block of wood. I will upload and link photos as I can’t post them directly here.

Here's a block of wood resting on the flat part of the top. The back of the wood is even with the back of the bridge. The angle between the wood and curved part of the top seems to be about the same as the bridge. So I'm OK with this, I don't think it's a defect.

Good deduction, Mr Holmes!

Hi again
I think you also said that the guitars intonation was out which I assume wasn’t the case when you first got the guitar a month ago?
I would measure the height to the underside of the bridge front and back on both the low and high E sides and recheck on a weekly basis.
The reason why I say this is that my guitar also started off fully intonated and with no discernible’lean’ to the bridge but ended up with the leading edge actually touching the body of the guitar!
Hope yours isn’t moving but I would keep a close eye on it and even notify your dealer of a potential issue.
Best of luck
Paul
