SE EG TREM VS STOPTAIL tone difference?

Hey guys I may pick up an EG sometime soon, some people have said that the stoptail model sounds better than the trem model? Is this true at all?

At one point I owned both a trem and a stoptail simultaneously, both SSS, and they were close. The stoptail had been modded by a previous owner, unidentified pickups and pots, and had some sort of weird grounding issue - so I ended up playing the trem one more. They still sounded pretty close, sustain, etc.

I have heard camps on BOTH sides. Coke vs. Pepsi I guess...
